Alberta Carriage Supply grew out of our appreciation of the history of the draft horse – and how they helped settle our country and worked so hard to build Western Canada. We believe there is something magical and mystical about them. And honest. They are hard-working and big-hearted animals who love to work.
More About Alberta Carriage Supply
Over the years, we’ve participated in a number of driving events, using horse-drawn farm equipment, wagons and sleighs, and regularly camp in the Rocky Mountains with teams and wagons.
This (of course) led to inevitable repairs being required as a result of breakdowns, and everyday wear and tear.
Because of the difficulty in having access to parts and a means to repair our equipment, we decided to become wheelwrights and took the wheelwright course at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon.
We now maintain a complete inventory of carriage and wagon parts, offer a full repair service, as well as a place to buy horse-farming equipment.
We believe our hands-on experience in driving/repairing and maintaining all kinds of horse-drawn vehicles and implements gives us an excellent understanding of how things should work, and what happens when they don’t. We can do the same for you and your equipment.
We also currently grow barley, in partnership with the Eau Claire Distillery (located in Turner Valley, Alberta), to provide feedstock for their award-winning spirits. And, of course, our horses are regulars at Draft Horse Town, at the Calgary Stampede.
“These guys are top-notch. They get you set up with good quality equipment and the knowledge you need to safely put your horses to work … and have a great time doing so. Great people, great shop!” — Christine Beattie
