What's covered in our Next Step Driving Clinic? We're glad you asked.

In this course you'll build on you skills and you'll learn how to ‘work’ horses and experience pulling several pieces of equipment including forecarts (with harrows), stoneboat and plow.

A working horse needs to be able to stand and to trust the teamster. We'll teach you the skills to build that trust and create a great working relationship with your horse. You'll also find out about making sure you've got the right horse for the job you're wanting to do.

We'll spend some of our time talking about how to get the most out of your horse. We know that a conditioned, comfortable horse will work longer. They need to be properly fed, harnessed and hooked. And you'll learn about the most important principle of horse pulling, the "line of draft."

You'll learn about (and experience) the stoneboat, and how this can be an essential tool in teamster training including starting a team properly, how to stop (properly) and horse conditioning.

You'll experience using a forecart. This essential tool (while providing comfort for the teamster) can hook to a wide variety of useful implements and towing opportunities. You'll discover balance and how to check for it as you work with pasture harrows, tooth harrows, spring tooth cultivators, plows and discs.

More horses! Learn why, how and when to use larger hitches
(3, 4, 5, etc.)

We'll have a great day of hands-on learning.

First come, first served until we reach capacity. Our courses are in demand and we usually sell out, so contact us today for more information or to register.
